Coecles
Harbor Cruising Guide:
Boat Ramps & Town Landings
|
|
Coecles Harbor has a few very good ramps and town
landings: Click on the image below to find out more
about each location.
|
|
1) Ram
Island Drive West: This boat ramp is
very popular and is great for launching small
boats. The ramp is dirt but you should not
have any problems launching boats here. The
landing is accessible from Ram Island Drive
.

|
2) Burns
Road: The boat ramp at Burns road is
located right next to St. Gabrielle Retreat
House. While this is a great place to leave
your dinghy and walk to town, you can not launch a
boat using a trailer unless you have a
four wheel drive car. There is a wooded ramp
leading to a beach. Shelter Island Kayaks
also uses this landing for many of its tours of
the harbor. For a list of local restaurants
you can walk to from this ramp click

3) Congdon
Road Town Landing: This Town Landing
and boat ramp is among the best on the
island. This ramp is next to the Shelter
Island Town docks inside Congdon's Creek. The boat
ramp is perfect for launching any size vessel and
has a paved ramp leading into the water.
This is also a great location to bring your dinghy
from the anchorage area and walk to some local
restaurants. For a list of local restaurants you can walk to
from this ramp click
here.

|
4) Ram Island Drive
East: Located just before Little Ram
Island, this town landing is not ideal for
launching a boat. The landing is great for
leaving your dinghy while exploring Little Ram
Island and Ram Island.
