Anchorage Areas...
The anchorage area
in West Neck Harbor is located in the
south-west corner. The anchorage area is very
large and clearly marked with white and orange
buoys. There is plenty of depth
in the anchorage area (10-15 feet in most
areas). The anchorage has a sandy bottom
with a good holding ground. Boaters can also
get
fairly close to the beach without going
aground. While the anchorage area offer
plenty of water, entering the harbor can be very
tricky. Make sure to see the navigation
page for more information.
The anchorage is sheltered by Shell Beach.
Shell Beach offers access to both West Neck Harbor
and Shelter Island Sound. The dirt road on
the peninsula will bring you to the tip of Shell
Beach overlooking some beautiful homes on the
other side. West Neck Harbor also offers a
great view the sunset.
Remember Anchoring in the harbor longer than 48
hours is prohibited. For more regulations
