West Neck Harbor is located on the South-West
corner of Shelter Island. The harbor has
many shallow areas, but is a very well protected
harbor. Shell Beach is located on the south
side of the harbor and is a great beach for
sunning and swimming. The harbor also offer
some great exploring opportunities by dingy.

Here are some local regulations you will need to know while
in West Neck Harbor:

Pumping out in the harbor is illegal and
punishable by law. Please see the marine
services in West Neck Harbor to find out where to
get pumped out. Help keep our harbor clean.

Shell fishing is illegal without a
permit. For information on obtaining a permit from the town of

Anchoring is limited to the
south-west
section of the harbor. See our Anchorage

While there is a 20 mph speed limit in the
harbor, there is a wake restriction inside the
harbor. Please be aware of your wake, especially
while entering or exiting the narrow entrance to the
harbor.

No personal Watercraft
operation in Town Waters.

West Neck Harbor offers plenty of things for
the family to do and explore. Kayaks, Shell Beach, and
exploring by dinghy is just the beginning.
