Orient Point Offers a small inlet with a marina,
restaurant and boat
ramp. Hallock Bay and
Orient
Harbor are also located nearby and offer
protected harbors with beautiful scenery.
Most of the categories we give information on in
this cruising guide can be accessed through the
marina inlet.
Orient Point is also the home of "Plum
Gut". Plum Gut is a busy body of
water situated between the eastern end of Orient
Point and Plum Island. This water is where
Long Island Sound meets Gardiner's bay and can
be extremely turbulent with very strong tides
that can be troublesome to the inexperienced
boater. Beneath
the turbulent waters lies a sharp cliff along
the floor of the sea. The cliff drops
almost 100 feet in some areas. Between the
strong currents, choppy waters and sharp drops
in the ocean floor this small body of water can
make for a very difficult passing if conditions
are not right. See our Navigational
Page for details.
