Orient and East Marion originally were called Oysterponds.
Nestled on the easternmost tip of Long Island's
North Fork this community is a cleansing retreat
from the busier villages to the west. The name
Orient was chosen to reflect the area's easternmost position on the North Fork. East Marion was named for
a general of the revolutionary war. The area
has a rich
history and a wonderful local historical
society.
Orient Point is the home to some wonderful
beaches and quaint little bed
and breakfasts'. The area is often over
looked by travelers who prefer the areas of Greenport
& Southold. Hallock Bay also offers a
great area for kayaking and exploring.
